Penelitian dilakukan dengan tujuan mendapatkan informasi mengenai mekanisme ketahanan tanaman cabai secara biokimia ketika terinfeksi Pepper yellow leaf curl Begomovirus (PYLCV) penyebab penyakit daun keriting kuning. Inokulasi PYLCV dilakukan melalui serangga vektor Bemisia tabaci. Akumulasi asam salisilat dan enzim peroksidase pada 6 genotipe cabai (35C2, IPB C15, IPB C26, IPB C10, IPB C14, dan IPB C12) diukur 120 jam setelah inokulasi (JSI). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa akumulasi asam salisilat dan konsentrasi enzim peroksidase meningkat pada tanaman yang terinfeksi virus. Peningkatan yang terjadi cenderung lebih tinggi pada genotipe rentan (35C2, IPB C15, IPB C26) dibandingkan dengan genotipe tahan (IPB C12).
